Deepak Rao murder case: All 4 accused in police custody
Mangaluru: Additional Director General of Police Kamal Panth who is in the city to monitor the situation as well as the developments after the Deepak Rao murder case in Katipalla, told reporters at the City Police Commissioner's office on January 4, Thursday about the dramatic way in which the cops chased the assailants and succeeded in trapping all the four accused in the case within hours of the incident.
Mohammad Naushad (22) of Kinnigoli Mennebettu and Mohammad Irshan (21) of Krishnapura 4th Block were trapped by Mulki PSI Sheetal and team who were checking vehicles at Ullanje after the SI had to fire at the assailants in self-defence when they tried to run their vehicle over the officer.
The two others Pinky Nawaz alias Mohammad Nawaz (23) of Krishnapura 7th Block and Rizwan alias Riju (24) of Krishnapura 4th Block were arrested at Dadduguri near Edapadavu by Panambur Inspector Rafique and his team. The two accused were injured in the gunfire, the ADGP informed.
The ADGP also praised the police team for its swift action and presented a total cash reward of Rs 1.2 lakhs to the six police personnel namely PSI Sheetal, ASI Chandrashekhar, staff Mahesh, jeep driver Hussain, CCB Inspector Shantharam, Panambur Inspector Rafique and Home Guard Harish.
All the four accused are in police custody and are being interrogated. The motive behind the murder would be clear once the probe is complete, said City Police Commissioner T R Suresh.
