Varthabharathi Kannada daily newspaper was launched in Mangalore in August 2003 . Today it is being published both from Mangalore and Bangalore.

Within months of its launch , Varthabharati emerged as the fastest growing Kannada daily of Karnataka . Its outstanding success was evident not only in its widespread circulation across Coastal Karnataka and neighboring districts but also in the great number of devoted fans it won all over the state in a short span of time. Today it has a formidable presence in Bangalore the capital city and atleast 10 districts around it. Significantly,Vaarthabharati dominates the media market in the world of Overseas Kannadigas.  It is the largest read Kannada newspaper among the Kannadiga NRIs in the Persian Gulf States .

APART from the regular 12 pages published  daily , Varthabharathi offers 4 additional pages on Sundays . This Special Sunday magazine known as SUGGI carries exclusive photo features, articles, stories , film and book reviews and also sections dedicated for children.

Bureaus

Varthabharati has full fledged news bureaus in Bangalore , Mangalore and also at Udupi. Besides , it has a huge team of experienced correspondents and photographers at almost all the District headquarters of Karnataka .Varthabharati has appointed part time reporters at various Taluk centers .

Editorial and Printing Press

The head office of Varthabharati and the editorial section is at Valencia Circle which is in the heart of Mangalore . The full fledged printing press of Varthabharati is situated in the Industrial area of Baikampady, Mangalore

Awards and recognitions

Dr. T . S . Vivekananda a Bangalore based environmentalist used to write a column titled  Bhoomi geete exclusively for Varthabharati. These articles were later published in book form under the same title and won Karnataka.

Literature Academy Award for the year 2005 .

Varthabharati has won the world renowned Transparency International Award for the year

2009.

Varthabharati has also received the Best Media of the Year award from Dubai based Bearys Cultural Forum ( BCF) during World Beary Convention & Chammana held on 2nd April 2010 in Dubai.
