BERTRAND RUSSELL HIGH SCHOOL BAIKAMPADY BAGS THE BEST DISTRICT CONSUMER CLUB AWARD

Mangalore, march.16: Bertrand Russell English Medium High School has bagged the coveted 'Best Consumer club award' in D.K.District for the consecutive 3rd year. The District Administration Mangalore,Food,Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Dept.Mangalore in association with District Consumer Information Centre Mangalore have observed “World Consumer Day”on 15-03-2017. A function in this regard was held at Zilla Panchayath Auditorium Hall, Kottara Mangalore.

Around 60 Schools have participated in the competition. Bertrand Russell English Medium High School have bagged the first place this year. This is the 3rd year in a row they have bagged the first place. Every year the students have been visiting the places of service providers/suppliers directly associated with the consumers.They interacted with them and tried to resolve the issues pertaining to the Consumers and clear the doubts about the product/service.

Last year they have educated the consumers about their rights by compiling and publishing the orders of the District Consumer Redressal Forum, Mangalore. Buoyed  by the success of this work, this year the school students have collected the important orders of the Consumer  Redressal Forums functioning in the different districts of Karnataka state. The students have translated these important jugdements from English to Kannada. This book was released on this occasion.

The Chief Executive Officer of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath  Dr.M.R.Ravi released the book. By releasing the book, Mr.Ravi  has told “Bertrand Russell English Medium High School students have done a wonderful work which will be appreciated by the Government”. The judgements of Consumer Redressal Forum should be documented and Zilla Panchayath will try to do it in the future.

The function was inaugurat by Mr.Vishweshwara Bhat  ,President, D.K.District Consumer Redressal Forum. Inaugurating the function Mr.Bhat said “there should be more and more consumer awareness created in the District. Consumer awareness has not reached to all the people”.

Shri  Mallana Gowda ,Senior Civil Judge and Secretary of District Judicial Service Authority ,Dakshina Kannada , Mr.M.J.Salian, President,D.K.District Consumer Federation, Mr.A.T.Jayappa  Deputy -Director ,Food ,Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department ,Mangalore ,Principals of different colleges of Mangalore, President of Bertrand Russell High School  Mr.Aboobakar Kukkady ,Vice –President of Bertrand Russell High School Mr.Aboobakar Krishnapura ,Correspondent of the School Mrs.Nisha Laxman were present in this occasion. Mrs.Jyothi Co-Ordinator of the consumer club of the Bertrand Russell School has got the Best Co-ordinator award.
