Independence day celebrations at Green Valley National School and PU College

Shiroor: Independence Day Flag Hoisting was held at Green Valley National School and PU College on 15th August 2017. The colourful Ceremony started at 08.30am.

Lieutenant Commander Geethalaksmi PM of the Indian Navy was the Chief Guest. The ceremony was held in the school Pavilion of the school with students and Prefects displaying colorful pageantry. The Chief Guest Lieutenant Commander Geethalaksmi PM of the Indian Navy hoisted the National flag accompanied by School Head Boy Master Mohammed Juman and Head Girl Aiswarya Pujar. She was accompanied by all the staff and students. The Flag Song the Flag Salute and the National Anthem followed.

Students had a variety of programmes high lighting the Importance of the day through thought provoking skits, Patriotic Songs and other events. Prefect Nidhi Nayak welcomed the audience and spoke on the Importance of the day and highlighted the responsibility of students in upholding patriotic values and the need to join hands in nation building as responsible future citizens.

The Chief Guest Lieutenant Commander Geethalaksmi PM of the Indian Navy in her address requested the students to remember the sacrifices made by our great leaders in achieving freedom and become more responsible to value it and cherish it. She advocated the students to add Character with Education uphold Values and realize the need for being more responsible and focused in realizing their importance as they would be the future custodians of our National Unity, Progress and development. He wanted the students to work hard as contributors in making India a global leader in the years to come.  Prefect Vindya S proposed the Vote of thanks.

The Flag Hoisting ceremony was followed by a colourful Patriotic Song and skit competition. All the four Houses, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond and Emerald participated. Students sang Melodious Patriotic songs and displayed thought inspiring short plays with Nationalistic feelings and Pride for the Country.  Mohammed Raid, Vindhya S and Nidhi Nayak Hosted the Day’s Events.
