Hubballi, DEC 2: Senior RSS leader Mangesh Bhende has stirred up a controversy by accusing Mother Teresa of staking the honour of the nation.

"Mother Teresa is revered by all. But in order to get foreign funds, she has staked the honour of our nation  by depicting it as a nation of poor people ; she resorted to conversions in the name of service"  Mangesh alleged  in his address during  the  Seva Sangama Convention held in New Delhi on Friday. The event was held under the aegis of  Rashtriya Seva Bharathi and Hubballi Seva Bharathi Trust.

"Politicians and government servants consider their duties as service and even get paid for it.  Even Christian Missionaries render service in the same way. They resort to conversions by cheating. Mother Teresa  by setting up 500 charitable  institutions in the nation brought crores of rupees from foreign nations," alleged Mangesh Bhende.

Puduchhery Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi who addressed the event, said the government's schemes should reach even the last person in the society. Efforts must be made in this direction, she added.
