Scribe's timely tip off averts ATM burglary at Valencia

Mangaluru: An ATM robbery attempt at Valencia in Mangaluru on Friday night has been averted due to the presence of mind of a journalist.

It is said that a journalist who was in his office  in the same building where the Canara Bank ATM was located at Valencia saw a burqua clad person seated suspiciously  near the ATM. He had immediately informed the police. The Pandeshwar and Kankanady Police had rushed to the spot when they found   that there was indeed an attempt to  burgle the ATM.

Finger print experts and dog squad has been pressed into service.

DCP Hanumantharaya visits spot : On Saturday, DCP Hanumantharaya visited the ATM at Valencia  and  inspected the place. He also spoke to Linette Pinto, the Branch Manager of Canara Bank.

Speaking to Vartha Bharathi, Hanumantharaya said so far no arrest has been made in connection with the case. He also added that investigations are underway.
